This year, the theme for the traditional Christmas Feast Day at Earthsea was set as the film, ‘The Rise of the Guardians’. As always, preparations began well before Christmas, with adults working hard in their own time away from Earthsea to begin the extensive work that underpins the transformation of the house on the day itself.

On the big day, the children set of excitedly with their link workers for a day out enjoying a buffet breakfast, followed by a trip to the cinema and local trampoline park.

This left the house free for the adults to begin the transformation into the world of the Guardians.

The hallway was transformed into Jack Frost’s ice pond, with the favourite addition being the slide that was custom built onto the stair way, allowing the children (and adults!) to sled down into the ice world.

The Community then travelled through the magical portal door into Santa’s workshop with the film, complete with the iconic globe depicting all the believers in the world, Sandman’s world, Tooth Fairy’s land and the Easter Bunny’s area.

Each of the Guardians were present in costume and had their own themed table, at which everyone enjoyed a delicious meal for the Feast itself. As always, the day was rounded off with games, carol singing, Christmas cake and hot chocolates, and of course the much awaited Secret Santa present exchange. A wonderful day was had by all as we celebrated the Christmas season as a Community.
