Like everybody, we have had to make significant changes in the way we do things in response to Covid-19 restrictions.
Sadly this year we were unable to invite friends of Earthsea to our annual summer party in keeping with tradition. However, we were determined to ensure that the children still had a day of fun in the sun!
We kicked off the day with a viewing of the video and a photo slideshow from the community holiday, remembering what was a magical week. This was followed by a mouth-watering lunch buffet, after which the children were delighted to discover the garden had been taken over by a giant inflatable helter skelter and superhero themed inflatable fun run. These provided hours of fun and entertainment for all. Just as energy levels began to drop, an ice cream van pulled in through the gates to provide some sweet, summer snacks.
Next, something that has become a summer party tradition, the giant water fight between adults and children. Our clothes may have been soaking wet but we refused to let the pandemic or the milder-than-usual temperatures dampen our spirits!
As the day drew to a close, we warmed up with a BBQ, singing and toasting marshmallows over the campfire, rounding off our slightly different, but magical nonetheless, 2020 Summer Party.
